PATCHING TOGETHER SOME CUTE NEW BAGS
I am always looking for new ways to fully utilise the beautiful hides I purchase. Whilst some companies use "Genuine Leather" which is an unholy mish mash of leather leftover fibres and glue which comes in a handy roll format, I prefer to use full grain leather and purchase full or half hides which as you can imagine come in all sorts of shapes.
The challenge is to use every part of it. Some of the hide is thicker, thinner, scarred and or stretched. The patterns for my bags mostly stem from my original design and are usually based on a square foot or feet. Consequently having shifted the pattern about to capture the best parts there will be equally good much smaller pieces leftover.
Thus far I been coming up with wallets, purses and eyeglass cases. however after rummaging about with some even smaller pieces in both the cowhide and sheepskin, the beauty of my favourite 70's aesthetic has revealed itself in these oneoff combinations in Stevie, Nina and Ninja. They are very randomand some are more Studio 54 whist other have taken on a full Woodstock vibe.
I have only a few in each of the Stevie, Nina and Ninja thus far and will make more if everyone loves them as much as me
